# Audio and voice chat

Use AirPods, choose a microphone, and recover quiet playback.

Listen through your device's speakers or headphones. iPhone and iPad streams use stereo sound.

On Mac, pick your speakers or headphones in macOS. Glimmer follows, even mid-stream. AirPods get spatial audio with head tracking. Other headphones and speakers get spatial audio without it, and 5.1 or 7.1 outputs play each channel as is. There's nothing to set up.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Muffled sound while you voice chat?** Your Bluetooth headset is lending its microphone. In Discord or your voice app, pick the Mac's or a USB microphone and keep the headset as the output. [Why this happens](https://support.apple.com/en-us/102217).
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
**Too quiet after switching outputs?** Nudge the Mac's volume up and back.
{% endhint %}
